5 Stand

  • 5 Stand Shooting at Cheshire County Fish and Game
CCSSEF's 5-Stand course features nine traps in all. Can you see all three of the ones in the picture?
  • 5 Stand Shooting at Cheshire County Fish and Game
Because the birds come from a variety of directions, shooters are required to stand within these cages to prevent them from swinging their shotgun in an 'unsafe' direction.
  • 5-stand_4

5-Stand is a mixture of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays. The game presents shooters with 25 clay disks…sometimes one at a time (a ‘single’), other times in pairs (a ‘double’), or two birds in sequence with the second bird being launched after the first one is shot at (a ‘report pair’). The foundation’s 5-Stand range features nine ‘throwers’ which send the birds in a variety of directions. As you might guess, the game is excellent preparation for hunting. If you can break 20 clays in a ’round’ of 5-Stand you’re doing well and should easily limit out on game birds. It’s a very rare event when someone breaks all 25 birds on this course.
